When the New Year Energy Fades, Awakening Occurs

Reading Time: 8 Minutes

Did your New year start strong then come to a sudden or maybe sputtering halt?

Maybe you feel like you didn’t really get started at all…

Or have you beat the odds and gotten past the day known as “quitters day”?

Whatever the case may be whether it feels hard or easy it’s important to reevaluate often.

Taking it one thing, day, moment, breath at a time will reduce stress, which directly affects your health, and it will also give you the opportunity to see what is *really*, *truly* helping.

If you are experiencing a new year slump/stall/slowing it may be to your benefit.

“When the New Year energy fades, awakening occurs.”

How though? How can it be a good thing when the goals you had seem to dissolve or motivation takes a nosedive and ceases to exist in your daily life?

Because when you are attempting to do something that does not truly align with or honor where you are at, it will be 10,000x harder to accomplish.

On the other side, you may be very resistant to any challenge, change or routine for a wide variety of reasons. Perhaps you need to take responsibility for something or you may need a different level of accountability.

This is not to say that if you didn’t keep pushing through, striving, or going for it you wouldn’t achieve it, you very well could, but what is important to recognize is if this goal is for you.

Is it unfolding in front if you like a path or like mountain, neither is right or wrong, but will the continuation of the journey be sustainable for you on an individual level?

It’s easy to witness the perceived determination and results of others while forgetting that they had their own journey, at times arduous, that was meant for only them. They had their own set of circumstances, understanding and time frames that are unlike our own.

You have your own journey that is unfolding only for you, in a time frame created for you and you can’t rush it or slow it down, well, I mean you can, but you will notice ( sadly sometimes years later) the pace didn’t honor your circumstances.

“It’s a new year yes, but it’s also just another day, so don’t let it pressure you. It’s never too late to begin, and reevaluation is never wasted. Every second is a new beginning if you allow it. Choices present themselves constantly.”

It is human made after all, the timing of the new year and operating within those confines, while it is the way the world works, it doesn’t mean that this part of year is any more or less significant. Nor does success in this part of the year or lack thereof dictate the future and the remainder of the year. It’s a part of a whole, like any other time and you can begin anytime.

After ushering in a new year, it feels very easy to take inventory of all the things that have not come to pass, all the areas that have not see growth yet, everything you have not achieved, but taking inventory of the “nots” is far from helpful.

Instead, begin taking inventory of what you have, what has occurred, you can get really micro and basic about these things too if it feels hard.

Take inventory of your desire to take responsibility for yourself and your health, take inventory of the blessing to have the mental space to create goals and desires and wants. Take inventory of all you have, again if this feels hard, start with simple things that are easily overlooked like shoes, a bed, or running water.

With the fast pace of the world, it’s easy to forget, maybe even downplay all we recognized, realized and accomplished in the last year.

When the new year rushes in pressuring you to do more, be more, make this year the “best” year, remember, more depends on how you measure.

A year can be hard and full of grief and other events or instances that are unpleasant but in those situations are unseen gifts and blessings,  strength we didn’t know we had, times we can reflect on to get us through things, recognition of how we navigated, a reminder of how human we are.

What promises were you waiting for, what things did you desperately desire that you are glad didn’t come to fruition? What did you receive that maybe you didn’t want that ended up being a blessing?

How did you respond? How did you improve?

Where did you take responsibility for your life?

Where is your center, does it rely on the actions of others or are you being steadfast?

Allow a recalibration & create a fostering environment for your body to shift with ease into change now & in the future. A time to learn, listen, reflect on what has come to pass & refocus on what you want to complete before the year ends.

Below are some Reflections for the end of January that I put together to help you take inventory, acknowledge your achievements, state your desires, invite in transparency in & move forward.

There are many ways you can utilize these reflections, please make it your own, as that is what will be most beneficial to you.

If you can, take part in this exercise when you can be fully present. Silence & put away your phone. Create an environment where you feel most at peace.

Here are three ideas to get you started:

  1. Write these down in a journal & revisit them as the months wear on & adjust when/if needed.

  2. Write these down & keep them in present view to serve as a reminder.

  3. Use this as a clearing exercise, if you feel the need to get things off your chest & vent. Write it all down, then burn it, or type it in a document on your phone/computer & delete when finished.

Decide what method is best for you & feel free to share with me if you like! I would love to see what you come up with & acknowledge the progress in your journey.

End of January Reflections

Reflections for The End of January

What Do You Want to Learn?

How Will You Hold Yourself Accountable?

What Will Keep You Centered?

Where Will You Make An Effort?

What Excuses Will You Stop Making?

We often underestimate how much & how often we need to vent, constructively complain, cry, reflect; but we tend to overestimate how much those we can confide in, can take, advise or help. That is when recognition of the importance of inner reflection becomes apparent.

No one will ever fully understand or know your experience, your thoughts or feelings because you were uniquely created & are one of a kind, so it is important to become in tune with yourself.

After all, you know your inner truth better than anyone. Instead of ignoring it allow it to be a catalyst for growth.

Without effort a goal is just a wish, but effort, how much and what kind are unique to each person.

I pray reevaluation allows you to let go of what isn’t serving you in this season, even if that means goals you had. This is not a sign of failure it is a sign of honesty with yourself. Let go of what no longer serves you, steals your time, happiness, & compromises the full expression of your beautiful existence.

Wishing you ongoing wellbeing & managed health,
